Dandenong Wolves is a team comprising bigger and older players than those of our squad and appeared formidable at the outset. Nevertheless, the game remained scoreless until around the 30 minute mark. Our keeper had spectacularly saved a goal at the expense of his dislocated shoulder and was sporting an ice pack when the opposition pumped a goal in to pass our replacement goalie even before he’d managed to get his gloves on! Undeterred by the physical and colourful vernacular of the opposition, not to mention the sudden downpour, Peninsula Strikers went on to a convincing victory with a couple of goals that defied plausibility. Celebrations were in abundance while tempers flared in the face of the onslaught. Overall, it was a good game that should spur on the enthusiasm for round two. Our keeper is recovering well, albeit a bit bruised and swollen. |
