Match Report Taken from The Langwarrin Website

Judgment Day at Centenary Park, Strikers V Langy for a place in the play off's.
With Richmond almost assured of the south east second division title, the game of the round was at the home of Frankston Strikers. Langy, who many have classed as the under achievers for season 2003 against Frankston Strikers. A tantalizing temptation in anybody's books. There was a big crowd on hand to witness the event with Langy looking shake the too, old too slow tag that had been bestowed upon them by some of the mindless cretins that hide behind pathetic user names on other web sites, were out of the blocks quickly and it looked like the crowd were in for a classic encounter. Alas it wasn't to be. Just another dower local derby with not a lot for the neutral to get excited about. However, as there was no neutrals at the game there was plenty for everyone else to get excited about.
Langys first real chance came at the twenty minute mark when a long cross from the right found Ben Caffrey charging toward goal. It was a difficult ball to control but Caffrey managed to get a half decent volley away that went just wide of the strikers up-right.
Strikers were put behind the eight ball early when their central defender had to succumb to an injury. At the thirty fourth minute mark Caffrey was again put through but his left foot shot was easy pickings for Chris Jones in the Frankston goal. The game had slipped back in to mediocrity and with that, the home team had started to gain some ascendancy. Into the last five minutes of the first half and the forty minute flutters were beginning to show through. But Frankston were a toothless tiger, not really troubling Dastey in the Langwarrin goal until the last minute of the half when the Frankston Striker got a great header away which brought an equally good save from the Langwarrin captain.
The second half stated with Darren McClenagahn replacing Simon O'Donnell who was still suffering from an injury that he picked up the week before.
Just four minutes later the Maestro Ronnie Whitton was brought down on the edge of the Frankston penalty area. It was a double blow for Langy because not only did they waste the free kick, but they also lost Ronnie who was replaced by Daniel Etheridge.
It was beginning to look ominous, the longer the game went with out a goal, the more it looked like Frankston would steal it. Then finally at the twenty five minute mark the Langy prayers were answered. Caffrey got to the right hand by line and put in a hard low cross in to the advancing Kilner. With Jones advancing at speed from the Strikers goal, kilner slotted the ball toward the Frankston goal. It seem to take an eternity to cross the line but it got there. 1-0 Langy, and that's how it finished. Every member of the squad played a part in this victory but as usual there were a couple of shining lights, They were again Steve Chetcute and Jamie McMinimee.
It was a great day for Langwarrin and the players paid tribute to their faithful by giving them an ovation at the end of the game, a nice touch boys, thanks it means a lot.
