Franchester United Lost to Mornington A 3 - 1
The game started badly for the Outlaws with Mornington "A" scoring their first goal in less than 2 minutes. For most of the first half Mornington controlled the play and left many players in the Outlaws mid-field, and especially defence, running from player to player instead of holding their positions. Mornington soon scored a second goal, leaving the Outlaws down 2-0 by half-time.
During the half-time talk Graham Baulk (coach) commented that he had just witnessed "our worst half ever". This criticism may have helped the Outlaws lift a little in the second half. The Outlaws defence tightened, and Mark Mills scored a good goal to bring the score back to 2-1. However, Mornington's third goal proved to be the nail in the coffin for the Outlaws and the score remained 3-1 until the final whistle.
This was the third time these two teams have met this year, but this game will undoubtedly be remembered as the worst of the three for the Outlaws.
Most notable players: Bruce (goalie), Ben, Duncan and Maxi.

Franchester United Lost to Pines Condors 4 - 0
Frankston played out a poor 4 nil loss to the Condors. Much of Frankston’s play was very disjointed. There were some good patches of possession, which resulted in some half chances. However, in between, there were some pretty ordinary ball skills. No teamwork and a negative approach meant Condors controlled more of the play.
Some stout defending and goal keeping kept Condors at bay, though they should have been a goal up at half time.
The 2nd half started the same as the first but after 20 minutes, Condors went 1 nil up, through some very good play and poor defence. Three more goals were added in quick succession as heads dropped very quickly.
In the end a very disappointing effort for Frankston, whose “team work” and character had taken a week’s break.
Better players for Frankston; Duncan, Max, Lee, Paudie.

Franchester United Lost to Rosebud A 4-1
Unfortunately all I can say about this game is five minutes is a long time in sport. The Outlaws fought hard against Rosebud A and continued even after Rosebud scored their early goal from a penalty. By half time Duncan had scored for the Outlaws and the game was tied at 1-1. The game continued as a draw in the second half, despite Rosebud increasing its attacks on the
Outlaws defence, until the last 5 minutes when a succession of 3 goals and the final score of 4-1 was achieved.

Franchester United Lost to Mornington A 2-0
This was a tough game and Mornington A were certainly troubled by the Outlaws. The Outlaws played well but commonly lost possession of the ball after only a couple of passes, unlike Mornington who tended to dominate mid-field. Despite being 2 goals up in the second half the call still went out from one of the Mornington players to not forget the Cup Game just two weeks earlier when Mornington A were leading before the Outlaws clawed back a draw (only to be decided by penalties). Nonetheless, this game was a better performance by the Outlaws than the previous week.

Franchester United Lost to Langwarrin A 7-3

The entire team played very well for the first 45 minutes with Bruce, Duncan and Millsy all scoring. Langwarrin also scored one goal just before half team resulting in both teams taking the mid-break at 3-1. However, the Outlaws also lost their keeper (Steve) to injury near the end of the first half. Bruce returned to his old position as goalie for the end of the first half and kept the gloves on when the whistle blew at the start of the second. But the second half saw Langwarrin rise a notch on the field and they were more prepared to take on the Outlaws defence. Despite many great (and gutsy) saves by the new Outlaws keeper, Langwarrin took the lead 4-3.
Then the Outlaws lost their second keeper with concussion after a kick to the head. Michael then put on the gloves and Langwarrin continued their attacks on goals. The Outlaws had a couple of chances in the second half but it really belonged to Langwarrin who managed to score 3 more goals to bring their total to 7. A very
disappointing game for the Outlaws with the final score 7-3.

Franchester United Lost to Mornington A 2-2 (4-2 on penalties)

Shame someone had to lose this very contest. The game flowed mostly from end to end, but with Mornington having more composure and time up front scored a goal either side of half time with some slick passing and finishing. Frankston stepped up a gear and controlled much of the last 30 minutes, scoring two goals. Bruce with a header from a long cross at the back post, and Nick with a spectacular volley from 6 yards out from a free kick taken by Bruce. Both sides could have scored in the
darkness of extra time (literally - Mornington had to turn the lights on!), but penalties was the only way to split the teams.

Franchester United Drew with Hampton Park 3 - 3
Frankston and Hampton Park played out a very entertaining 3 all draw at Hampton Park. Frankston seemed to come “out of the blocks”; a lot quicker and had much of the early play. However, gaps in the area seemed hard to find. Millsy finally broke through finishing some good passing after 20 minutes. Frankston had a few more opportunities after this as well. With 15 minutes left in the half, Hampton Park found their feet and scored twice.
The start of the second half was very similar with Frankston finding it hard to control possession. After 10 minutes another goal was added. To Frankston’s credit heads did not drop, and, gained some momentum in the midfield. A resultant free kick was superbly put away by Blacky from outside the area. Pressing on, a long kick from half way to the top of the 6 yard box was headed past the keeper by Duncan. Not bad given the “much” taller opposition.
The last 15 minutes could have had both sides score, Hampton Park could be considered unlucky to have made more from their greater forays forward.

Franchester United Drew with Seaford 1-1
Frankston and Seaford fought out a 1 all draw. A fair result overall, but the score line hiding a game, where both sides had many reasonable scoring chances.
Both Seaford and Frankston dominated at times with attacking play in the first half, only to see shots go wide. Seaford had the better of opportunities and hit the post on a couple of occasions. The 2nd half started with a more even contest with both sides having their share of the possession.
On the hour Frankston starting ball watching, and, with Seaford playing some good soccer deserved to be one up with a classic cross and header finish.
Frankston seemed to wake up, and, with much of the play in Seafords half should have scored a few times. A number of passes found a player against the keeper, only to be thwarted by some poor finishing and good saves.
With much pressure in the 18 yard area, Frankston finally received a penalty, which was put away. With 10 minutes to go weary legs opened up many gaps in the midfield, and both side could be considered unlucky not to score.
Due to the absence of a referee, a big thanks to Ron who stepped in; a thankless job at the best of times.

Franchester United Lost To Boronia Knights 3-1
A disappointing game for the Outlaws with the only real standout player being Steve Carey (goalie). Boronia Knights played well and perhaps should have scored more goals but nonetheless would have been very happy with the 3-1 result.
Cameron Johnston scored the only goal for the Outlaws, but the entire team will no doubt have a hard night of training awaiting them this Wednesday.

Franchester United Beat Westernport 5-0
The Outlaws played away to Westernport B in the first round it produced an easy win, Lee Windsor getting a hat trick. Westernport were just no match for the Outlaw squad, who won 5-0.

Franchester United Beat Frankston Young Guns 3-2
Fran…....United (still to vote on this one!) Played very well to defeat a very competitive Young guns unit 3-2. Franchester controlled much of the first half hour and should have had a couple of goals, after hitting the wood work, and, shots going wide. Young guns then lifted their game to wrest back some of the possession and scored against the run of play.
There were further chances to score for both sides but it wasn’t until into the 2nd half that Bruce finished off a set of passes to score a very good goal. Franchester then lifted a notch or two, and, with much of the possession in the other half of the park, had Paudie scoring two goals. The 2nd of which was lobbed over the keeper from long range.
The Young Guns, sensing defeat, lifted their game and pressed home their good play with one goal and came close to drawing.

Franchester United Drew With Pines Condors 0-0
Franchester United (the team name is STILL up for discussion) opened up their inaugural Division 1 season, with a well fought, NIL all draw against Condors at Pines Soccer ground.
Both sides had limited opportunities to score, with much of the play in the middle of the park. Franchester did have %60 of the play though, and, could be considered slightly unlucky not to have scored the winner. Even though Franchester’s goalkeeper made a couple of very good saves.
Despite the very warm conditions, everyone put in a good performance.
Special Mention to Max, Cameron, Millsy, Bruce and Blacky.
