Cup Game
Frankston Fillies 1 V Hampton Park 4

In a highly entertaining match the FRANKSTON FILLIES went down by 4-1 to the yet unbeaten HAMPTON PARK in a BAYSIDE Cup Match on Sunday. Playing against a strong wind in the first half captain HEIDI TABORSKY marshalled her troops around her and with BROOKE CARROLL on top form in goal HAMPTON PARK could not get the break through they needed to score a goal. Eventually constant pressure paid off, but the goal came in unusual circumstances. A HAMPTON player went down seemingly with a bad injury and the FILLIES defence seemed more concerned about her than watching the ball. The referee did not blow for attention to the girl and their left winger crossed the ball which somehow went over BROOKES head in to the goal.
Just minutes before half time the FILLIES were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty box. Leading goal scorer INGRID FEWSTER stepped up and curled the ball in to the net out of the reach of the HAMPTON keeper. The second half became a struggle for a goal with end to end play. HAMPTOM striker went past two FILLIES players and hit an unstoppable shot in to the top corner of the net. HAMPTON now had their heads up and a third goal soon followed when a ball was driven pass a completely unsighted BROOKE.
LAURA BURT was continuing to be again stay in the defence and with the tenacious HEIDI continuing to keep the girls going defeat was not going to be an option for the girls. Alas a late fourth goal sealed there fate but all the girls came off the field with heads held high.

Well today’s game was a ripper, its taken 16 league games and the girls got it all right. With great passing, running at there defence, attacking constantly, and shots on goal. Defence clearing there lines. We had it all with every girl enjoying the last game in the League, for the year.
Some great work was done in midfield, defence and up front having a field day with shots on goal. It was great to see the girls going for it and making the most of the moment.
It’s hard to put a best player because the team was the winner on the day, with everybody contributing. Well done girls.
Goal scorers: Tegan Bennett, Hannah Lewins and Ingrid Fewster
Hampton Park in 2 weeks in the Cup, we might get a surprise.

Frankston Fillies 0 V Hampton Park 3
This was always going to be a battle of ends, the wind played a major part in this game. Our girls kicked against it in the first half and where under the pump in the first ten minutes, with the leagues highest goal scorer missing several chances, some good work by goal keeper Brooke to keep the score to zero. Then Marg committed the sin of handball in the box which was a bit dubious. The score 1 nil.

To the credit of the girls they kept to there job and worked hard, even putting six passes together and nearly scoring, but our touch up front has to improve if we are going to make a threat to teams such as this. This resulted in some good work in the midfield by Kylie, Hannah and Alicia, but a second goal was conceded by half time. 2 nil at the break.

In the second half with two new front runners Jackie and Kylie and Trudy in midfield we seemed to penetrate but no score. The girls were working hard with the wind with good work by Sacha marking close, Marg and Laura using the wind to our advantage, we still can't score. The work rate was dropping and a goal mouth scramble resulted in a third goal.

So 3 nil final result, but the girls should keep there heads high as this was the top side and has given us a hiding on a few occassions. A good result and well played.

Next week Rosebud B at home, a family day. Make the effort and watch your ladies at home for the last time this year.

This was to be by far the best all round performance of the season for the Fillies, at least for 75 minutes of the game.

The girls tried there hearts out for 3/4 of the game and the Pines did not look like they were going to leave the ground winners until a lack of concentration saw the Pines receive a penalty after one of our players forgot her name and called "mine, mine" instead this resulted in a great shot at goal that left the keeper no chance. From there on in were the Fillies of old, with holes appearing everywhere in there defence and a noticeable lack of fitness the flood gates opened.

Stands out as usual were Heidi Taborsky and Margarita Grodonoski in defence, Trudy Hay who has had a new lease of life and the ever elusive Jacqui Mahl in midfield.

This week is going to be a big game as usual against Hampton Park so if the girls can see out the entire game, on current form they should be competitive.

Round 13
Frankston Fillies 0 V Cuscatlan 3
Another case of what could have been is the only way to report this game, both teams had chances but only one team took them.

In what seemed a very flat side there were very few highlights, the most notable was the performance of Trudy hay who played the best game of her injury plagued season, Laura Burt was strong in defence as was Laura Watson until her untimely exit from the match and probably the season.

Tegan Bennett played a courageous game up front despite battling the flu, as was half the side. Brooke after an early mistake picked up her game and pulled off some spectacular feats of keeping and Kylie and Kerrie made an impact off the bench but all in all it was a tired team just going through the motions.

This week coming will tell the team how far they have progressed since the start of the season as they are playing Hampton Park, a team they always seem to play their best football against despite the final score line.

Bayside News
Rosebud have a large number of lady players and as a result have added another team, so the bye round will be filled by a Rosebud B team.

Frankston Fillies V Rosebud A
What can I say we finally done our first win for the season, it was not that easy though. The Fillies started terribly with the team rearranged and some ackward bounces on a hard dry pitch. The Fillies found themselves 1 nil down in the first half. After pulling one back the Rosebud team had more endeavour to get the ball first.
Half time score was 2 goals to 1.
At half time some changes were made to personnel and rearrangement of players positions. In the second half the girls were on a mission, not to leave without a point. The team played well together with some good work in defence by Alicia, Heidi and Loz and down the right hand side with Hannah and Trudy working well together.
Ingrid scored a lovely goal after already getting the first to take it to 2 all. The girls continued to push but conceded a goal to put us 3-2 down. But the girls continued to their mission and kept going with a classy goal from Trudy on the right hand side making it 3 all. We slotted the winner late in the second half making the final score 4-3 to us, well played girls.

Round 11
Frankston Fillies V Frankston Pines
As usual this game was a very tight, hard tackling, physical match with the Fillies put to the test on many occasions.

In the first 15 minutes a momentary loss of concentration by our your keeper allowed Pines to go 1 nil up at a time when the Fillies were playing ok, bad luck and inconsistent bounces are not going our way at the moment. The girls showed endeavour and made a contest of the game for the next 30 minutes with bad luck being a constant enemy.

Second half and due to a lack of fire power upfront the Fillies could not penetrate a very strong Pines defence, lack of fitness was soon showing with our girls running out of legs thus resulting in a second goal when an attacking move down the left hand side was finished off after a Pines player beat 3 defenders and put it in the back of the net.

Good solid work was done by Heidi, Loz, Sacha, Kylie and Marg well done girls the work rate is there, now all we have to do is put it together this week against Rosebud.

Frankston Fillies V Hampton Park (Home)
As always this is a much anticipated game due to the fact the girls play above themselves against this far superior side, today was to be no different.

The team missing key players Laura Watson, Laura Burt and Tegan Bennett took the game to the Hampsters for the first 35 minutes and looked as though this would be their day. Hampton Park then executed some well rehearsed moves down the flanks which were finished off with some terrific goals, unfortunately the Fillies would go into half time 4 nil down.

The second half started as the first with the Fillies applying never ending pressure but were unable to capitalize until the 70th minute where after some solid work up the middle by Jacqui Mahl, Ingrid Fewster was on the receiving end of a lovely through ball from Trudy Hay, took on the goal keeper and finished off a terrific team goal. The damage had sadly already been done at this point, with some assistance from an own goal by the Fillies and a terrific goal outside the 18 yard box the Hampters were to go 6-1 up.

The whole team played fantastic and should be proud of their performance, however I would like to pay special mention to Heidi Taborsky who lead by example all day and Hannah Lewins who was spectacular to watch whether in defence or attack, a couple of players that performed like stars for the team.

Frankston Fillies 0 V Cuscatlan 2
After a great star the Fillies played some good football with Laura Watson's return to the side after a long absence, and went to the break at half time nil all.
The second half 4 changes were made and the Fillies were playing well until Cuscatlan forwards put some pressure on and created a chance with Brooke being kicked in the head, resulting in a suspect goal. The Fillies couldn't clear there lines and went 2 nil down. But the Fillies kept trying and looked the better side for most of the day.
Some great work by Jacque in midfield, Tegan and Hannah fired with Nev and Kerrie to maintain the two goals down but to no avail. Several chances were missed and the end result did not reflect the effort and determination the Fillies had put in over the game and ending in a result that was flattering to the Cuscatlan team. Well done girls!

Round 7
Frankston Fillies 1 V Rosebud 1
The team started the game with only just 11 players but still went out with great enthusiasm and a passion to win. Within the first ten minutes the Frankston Fillies had points on the board thanks to a stunning performance from Nevanka Galic. Though she did not do it alone she had great support from Kerrie Chipman as they moved towards the goals and Nev went one on one with the Rosebud goal keeper. We then unfortunately lost our right fullback, Alycia right on the 30 minute mark to other commitments. The girls trooped on now playing with a mere 10 players but then in the last 10 minutes Jess Kaminski's sister, Mel stepped up and joined the game for a little extra support. The girls playing one of their better games, passing the ball and supporting each other managed to keep the score one nil at half time.
With some alterations to the girl's positions the girls went out determined for a good second half. Unfortunately their big night before had finally caught up with them. Though many of the girls tired and hung over, Heidi shone, holding the team together but she too was starting to feel the demons of a late night out. Then in the 55th minute of the game we had an unfortunate goal scored against us this bringing the score to 1 all. Both Hannah and Nev made attempts to put us back in the lead but both were unable to do so. By this stage the team was no longer playing the same game they had played in the first half. The girls sa the game out and managed to keep the score at a 1 all draw.
Rosebud had a great debut game into the league. Well done to all the girls on there effort and big thanks to Mel for lending a hand on such short notice, it was much appreciated.

The Ladies Division has been reformated again due to a fifth side enetering the competition that being Rosebud, fixtures for the Fillies are now up on website, below is the format for the Cup Competition.

Frankston Fillies 1 V Hampton Park 7
First of all we would like to welcome Jessie Kaminski to the Fillies, she already showed in her debut game that she will be an asset to the team.

Now to the not so positive part of the Fillies team report...this week was always goin to be hard going, not only were the Fillies playing the best team in the league by a country mile they were decimated by injuries, as if this isn't hard enough they put mor pressure on themselves by bitching at one another, something that I didn't think I would see in what was once a tight unit of girls, in times like this you need to help each other out not create on field bickering.

The only highlight to a very ordinary performance was the first gamer Jessie Kaminski, Hannah Lewins created space all over the ground and was not only playing her position very well but also had to cover the positions of some of our supposed better players who went missing at various times. Hannah was rewarded with a 75th minute goal, the first ever scored against the Hamsters by any team this season. In a game where there were 30 plus shots on goal the Fillies can count themselves lucky that the score was only 7-1 due largely to the person on the ground that never gave up, the keeper.

Frankston Fillies 0 V Frankston Pines 3

The Fillies held there own for the first 25 minutes until our injury list grew with 3 key defensive players going down in a short space of time. Rearranging the defence had us down 2 nil at the 30 minute mark, this would be the half time score.

2nd half the Fillies came out firing but much to the frustration of the forwards could not crack the Pines defence, the pressure built up at the back again with Tegan, Alycia, Marg and Heidi under the pump but Brooke managed to keep Frankston in the game with some great saves.

The third goal came in the 80th minute of the game and that was to be the final score. Kylie and Kerrie showed good endeavour, Brooke played out of her skin, Kylie and Tegan never stopped trying, Marg, Heidi and Alycia all tried hard all day.

Bad luck girls, the second half was a lot better and we are getting there slowly.

Frankston Fillies 3 V Cuscatlin 4

All in all a pretty good day on the paddock by the whole team as we finally proved that we can score goals and that it is all about having fun.

Some minor positional changes to our forward line by coach Darville led to some exciting play and the chance for Ingrid Fewster to show what she can do with the ball scoring a hat trick, Fillies had many opportunities but were denied by the wood work on several occassions.

This team beat us 6 nil in the first round so the girls certainly look back on this game as a positive and try to build on it, well done girls, Steve and I applaud each and every one of you for the positive way you have approached this game.

Frankston Fillies 0 V Hampton Park 4

A match that got away is the only way to explain this highly anticipated game against the Hampsters.

After a solid start we let the game get away from us after poor defence in the 20th and 25th minutes. 10 minutes before half time we lost the goalie to injury (she would return in the second half) and once again the ball found the net shortly after.

The second half saw The Fillies go to nil 4, which in a game where Frankston had the majority of play and did not capitalize on it was very frustrating to say the least.

Stand out players include Sacha Tremewen, Heidi Taborsky, Ingrid Fewster and the three youngest who had survived their debutante ball the previous night – Alycia (who closed down there best player for the entire game), Hannah and Brooke.

All in all a good effort from the girls and lets all try to remember that this is the first season of soccer for 90% of the team and that if they stay together in years to come they will be a very competitive unit

Frankston Fillies 0 V Frankston Pines 2

2nd match of the revived competition and a welcome back to Heidi Taborsky, playing her first game for the year following throat surgery.

The girls got away to a slow start against a team that threw everything at them from the first whistle, after 25 minutes The Pines had kept 90% of the possession and the Fillies succumbed to an own goal after mass confusion in the goal mouth, this was followed shortly after with a second visit to the vack of the net after some ordinary defence on our behalf.

The second half was the Fillies of old and even though they couldn’t find the back of the net there was still a few promising moments and taking nothing away from the Pines who played a fantastic game as they have both times we met, the end result was probably not a true indication of a game played in two halves.

Once again the same old faces were putting there hand up for the majority of the work load and that is something the team needs to address if they are to be competitive.

Laura Burt was strong both in defence and her on field leadership in the absence of Laura Watson, Heidi Taborsky never stopped even though she came into the game with no match fitness due to ill health plus a couple of players who normally go unnoticed Margarita and Nevanka played very strong games. Brooke played another solid game and is growing in confidence every game she plays in goal. Trudy Hay returned from a 3 week injury in the second half to show glimpses of old and we as a team look forward to fielding a full strength side in the coming weeks and showing what we are capable of.

Frankston Fillies 0 V Cuscatlan 6

The first game of the revamped girl’s league and the team were to met with an onslaught of goals that any team would have been demoralized by.
To the girls credit they took their frustrations to the training field and are primed for a big game against the PINES. The only highlights to this 6-0 loss to CUSATLAN were top games by HANNAH LEWINS, SASHA TREMEWEN and both LAURAS BURT and WATSON. Unfortunately LAURA WATSON was injured and had to leave the field.
Moral is still high and the word is WATCH OUT PINES.

Frankston Fillies 1 V Frankston Pines 1

The game against FRANKSTON PINES proved to be a lack lustre affair with the only high light being when HANNAH LEWINS combined with TEGAN BENNETT who provided the finishing touches to a great goal.

It appeared that the FILLIES had added a second goal early in the second half from an INGRID FEWSTER free kick, only to be denied after consultation between the ref and the linesman.

An injury to team captain LAURA WATSON in the first twenty minutes of the second half meant she had to leave the field. And this became a major factor in the out come of the match pressure was put on LAURA BURT and SACHA TREMEWEN to hold the defence together, ably assisted by ALYCIA BIRD, INGRID and HANNAH.

PINES managed to get an equaliser and to the credit of the girls with other injuries to the team during the game we held out for a good point away from home.

LAURA, TEGAN, INGRID and JACQUI DAHAL and BROOKE CARROLL who had another strong performance in goal deserve special mention for the way they played.

The team will now take the Easter break to get their injured players back on the park.

Women's Bayside League Restructure

Just as the Women's League got started, Langwarrin has pulled out leaving only four teams to compete. Due to the massive problem in regards to byes the league will be restarted on the 23-04-06 with the approval of the league.

This has also allowed for new entry's to the women's league to be accepted with the possibility of other teams joining the current four of Hampton Park United, Cuscatlan, Frankston Pines & Frankston Strikers.
The league is very committed to make this women's league work and are very eager to welcome any proposals from new interested teams.

One idea that was brought forward is that clubs that don't yet have the numbers to combined efforts with other such clubs to help get this league up and running and to gain momentum.

But if no new clubs do not come forward then the league will be restarted in a four team effort.

Meanwhile this weekends fixture will still go ahead with Frankston Pines hosting Frankston Fillies at 11:00am whilst Cuscatlan has taken Langwarrin's place against Hampton Park United that will also be held at Cuscatlan's home venue at 11:00am.

Once again, the league will stress the fact that we are committed into making this work and are very grateful for the understanding of the current clubs in their assistance to provided a affordable and sociable league for women's football.
