President Report 2007 30 years on and thanks to our guests at presentation night for founding this league. 62 teams competed in this years competition, some successful some not, but above all the Bayside has the ability to bring out the best in people. I am sure all who competed this year have made new friends and created memories to take through their lives, the Bayside to me has that ability to bring together people from all walks for a laugh and a drink. This year we saw the introduction of the Legends league, showcasing some of the greats of years gone by, also some of the best anecdotes are still in circulation, congratulations to all who competed in this years legends league. Frankston Pines season saw them crowned champions, unfortunately their coach Luis Barriga tragically passed away a week before the presentation of his victorious team, I am sure he is proud of them all, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family in their time of loss. New teams and old teams alike battled out this season, Ladies, Veterans and Senior men’s teams, all for the right to be named champions, regardless of position on the ladder all our teams can be proud of their achievements this year, as the Bayside is easily the friendliest of leagues in this country. Being president of this league has been an honour this year with the amazing support of the entire committee, the following people need to be thanked for their tireless efforts and enthusiasm they have shown this year. Tony Ryan, Barry Fearn, Peter Rushton, Ana Verlander, Steve Bakkers, Frank Kovac, Bart Harold, Iian Orrock and Steven Gray. All of the above contributed more and more as the year unfolded and it is with great pride I can truly call all of these people my good friends. It is a pleasure when these individuals who already contribute call and ask what more can I do. Your league is in very good hands with these people involved. I can confidently say that all on our committee as hard working as they are will bow to the endeavours of one of these people. This gentlemen’s workload is nothing short of amazing, his ability to be in 3 places at once is beyond our comprehension, how does he do it. On top of the endless volunteer hours he puts in for our league, he also manages to be a loving husband and a proud father, see U tube for the women’s cup draw, any person looking for a role model in life should look no further than Steve Gray. Personally thank you Steve for being the gentleman you are and I cherish the friendship we have. This man shuns any recognition but deserves the most. While Steve has to post this report on presidential decree, I know he will be embarrassed by any recognition, this man loves our game with his heart as he does his family. Steven Gray please take a bow and the thanks of all in the Bayside community for you’re a giant in our eyes and the reason our league is so successful is because its all your fault To all who visit this website shoot an email in to Steve and let him know how much we appreciate his remarkable work. Love is not too strong a word for this man. The cup finals are at Frankston this year and I am sure it will be a successful day for our league, all involved and our game as a whole. Also a big thank you to Trophywise trophies for their continued support of our league, The Sands hotel who graciously welcome us each year and the Amstel Golf club who put on a memorable night for our presentation, highly recommended as a venue, also the suppliers of our balloons the Balloons party shop in Heidelberg. 2008 AND BEYOND What will be in 2008, only time will tell but already we are ahead of ourselves and looking to new challenges, all on the committee are looking fresh and primed for another big year, but for now its time to rest and remember the year that was, to all over summer we wish you the best of health the happiest and safest of time for you and family and friends. We hope to see all your smiling faces again next year and we welcome any new friends the want to join what we call, The Bayside Football Association, the friendliest league in town. The James Verlander Shield will mark the start of our season in 2008, an unbelievable day for all who have been before and all who will come in future Any club wishing to host this event will be truly enhanced as a club. The charities that benefit from this day are full of amazing people and stories, enrich your soul and get involved. We enjoy our game as a sport but to use this time of pleasure to help put a smile on faces that need a little support is an easy thing to do.
